SEEDS |
The SEEDS project has enabled 3 local residences with an apprenticeship with the redevelopment of our Scotswood Cafe/Diner. Local Builder Bob Caroll has taken on the role as Project Manager.
With the impending regeneration of the area alongside the proposed demolition and relocation of Scotswood Area Strategy(SAS), and the start of an ‘Integrated and Engaged Community strategies” as outlined in the Masterplan 2 Documentation for the regeneration of the area there exist very real opportunities for developing an innovative training and employment programme that has the capacity to reach those who are currently furthest from the labour market. It has the potential to contribute significantly to…… ‘A thriving and diverse local economy in Scotswood will lead to a more prosperous, vibrant community and will consist of local shops and cafes, increased social enterprise and measures to promote local employment and training opportunities” Scotswood Masterplan 2 Document (April 08) And the commitment that…… Community participation is an essential part of successful regeneration. Strategies will be developed to engage both the existing and new residents, developing links between them from the earliest possible stages” Scotswood Masterplan 2 Document(April 08) AIM
