YOUTH OPPORTUNITY FUND AND
YOUTH CAPITAL FUND
What is the Youth Opportunity Fund?
The Youth Opportunity Fund is a pot of money given to us by the
Government to pay for young people’s activities locally .The money
is there for you to bid for things that you would like to do but
haven’t had the chance to .This may be things like residentials,
arts projects, sporting activities or developing projects that
benefit other people.
There are 2 ways to access this fund;
• Money direct to young people via the Keyfund process
• Grants to youth organisations
The Youth Capital Fund
This is a pot of money that can be used for things like doing up
buildings, buying mobile resources etc. The funds direct to youth
organisations will be distributed by a group of young people from
Newcastle ,who will meet to consider and discuss your application
and decide how the money will be given out. This group will be
working to a set of criteria (this is a list of things that you must
do or have in place in order to get the money) to help them make
those decisions.
You can apply to both the Youth Opportunity Fund and the Youth
Capital Fund for the same project (where it meets the fund
criteria). However you cannot apply for Youth Opportunity or Capital
Funding and Keyfund for the same project/activity.
So what’s your next step? Which one? Keyfund or Youth
Opportunity/Capital Fund Grants to organisations?
What is Keyfund?
Briefly, Keyfund is a pot of money for groups of young people to use
for projects that they plan, develop and carry out themselves with
the support of a trained Keyfund facilitator.
